BUCHANAN – Need to save on fuel or want something to do on a Saturday morning? Come to the opening of the 2008 season of the Buchanan Farmers' Market on May 3. The market hours will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through October.
This season the market has themes for each month. May will be the gardening theme. Vendors who will have plants and perennials are Perennial Delights and Mt. Zion Perennial Gardens. They can tell you what to plant and where to plant it. Buchanan Garden Club will also have hanging baskets. Garden art will be provided by new vendor Darlene Dillenbeck who does stained glass for the garden and home. Dennis Williams will bring garden art to the market with his bird houses and benches. Adam Davison will have rustic furniture. During the season the Philip/Richard Farms will have cut flowers, but come see their wreaths and herbs on opening day.
They welcome Breadsmith as a new vendor this year. They will have a large variety of breads, scones, and pastries. Terry and Tina Holloway from Concord Ridge Farms and Jim Gross from Sevick Gardens will provide seasonal produce, honey, jams and jellies and plants.
Get shadow boxes, antiques, wooden bowls and homemade soap from vendors Ron Baker, Joanne Mayer and Carla Cole. Kids can even buy a craft to take home to complete. There is something for everyone.
Theye are also looking for more produce vendors and other vendors to participate in the monthly themes of Gardening in May; Health, Fitness and Beauty in June; Arts and Crafts in July; Antiques and Collectibles in August; Animals in September; and Safety in October. If you are interested or need more information call Market Master Molly Thornton at (269) 506-3021.
Come join others for a cup of coffee, a muffin and music by the You'll Dew. Don't forget to bring your ad from the local paper in for our monthly drawing of a Buchanan Farmers' Market shopping bag full of products from the Market.
