Jack W. Fein, 80, of North Fifth Street, Niles, died Monday, May 21, 2012, at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles following an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 2, 1931, in Niles to Edward and Bessie (Scheffield) Fein. He graduated from Niles High School in 1950 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the United States Navy. On July 7, 1956, he married the former Charlene Asmus at Saint John’s United Church of Christ in Niles. She survives.
Jack was a member of Saint John’s United Church of Christ in Niles and retired from National Standard Company. He was an outstanding pitcher for the Niles Fast Pitch Softball League for many years.
Surviving with wife Charlene, of Niles, are daughters, Kim (Paul) Lothschutz of Grand Rapids, Mich., Becky Harlen of Indianapolis and Jackie (Brian) Grice of Niles; grandchildren, David (Sara) Lothschutz, Michael (Beth) Lothschutz, Michelle Harlen, Dustin McKenzie and Mark Harlen; and great-granddaughters, Grace, Lauren and Amelia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Jack W. Fein will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, with the Rev. Harry L. Clark of Saint John’s United Church of Christ officiating.
Interment will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens with full military rites.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at the funeral home and one hour before services on Friday at the funeral home.
