Michael and Deborah Sutherland, of Niles, are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary June 10.

They were married June 10, 1972, in Marcellus on the bride’s family farm. Michael has managed The Sutherland Farms for most of his adulthood and is also a small business owner. Deborah worked for many years with special-needs children at Brandywine Public Schools.

They are both active members of First Presbyterian Church of Niles, at which Deborah is currently a deacon. Michael is an elder of the Masonic lodge of Niles and in recent years has been appointed to several positions of public service.

The couple are also fishing enthusiasts and enjoy summer trips to their previous hometown of Charlevoix, Mich.

They will be celebrating with their family, friends and two daughters throughout June.
