NILES – The Lighthouse Chorus begins its 2008 performance season with its spring concert Saturday, April 19 at 6:59 p.m. in Edwardsburg at Hope United Methodist Church, 69941 Elkhart Road. Tickets are $8 general admission. Students and senior tickets are $5.
The concert is also a fundraiser for the Edwardsburg Food Pantry.
A percentage of the proceeds will support the local food bank.
Featured guest quartet is the Interstate Chord Company. The name comes from the fact that two members live in Michigan, while two hail from Indiana. Bernie Worden, tenor, and Kerry Foley, who sings bass, both live in Galien. Brian Andrews, lead, lives in Granger, Ind. and Dick Jordan, baritone, lives in South Bend, Ind.
The Lighthouse Chorus is Michiana's premier male a cappella vocal group. They have performed all over southwest Michigan and northern Indiana, wowing crowds as purveyors of traditional and contemporary songs. The chorus includes members from all across southwest Michigan and northern Indiana. The venue is conducive to the chorus’ revised plans for more community-based performances.
"We want to come to the people, rather than have them travel far to see our performance," said Gene Hanover, choir director and current membership chair.
