CASSOPOLIS - Four contestants will compete in the Miss Cassopolis Blossomtime Pageant at 6 p.m. on Dec. 17 at the Ross Beatty Junior-Senior High School. There will also be a prince and princess contest with 11 little girls and two boys in the competition.
Contestants for Miss Cassopolis 2006 include:
Anjel Francisco
Anjel Francisco, 17, is a senior at Ross Beatty High School. She is the daughter of Andrea Johnson and Hiawatha Francisco. She has one brother and five sisters.
She hopes to attend St. Xavier University in Chicago and major in pre-medicine to eventually become a psychiatrist.
She is a member of the Varsity Cheerleading team and competes on an All-Star Cheerleading team. She has also participated in Junior Varsity Golf, the Spanish Club and Afro American Club.
She would like to see a community program in which there were unity days once a month,” that would bring people together to celebrate their diversity and the bonds that tie us together as a community,” she said.
Cally Hass
Cally Hass, 17, is also a senior and the daughter of Dean and Glenda Hass. She has two sisters.
She is planning on attending Michigan State University to major in agriscience to become a teacher and a FFA advisor.
She is president of the senior class, Penn 4-H Club, FFA Cassopolis chapter and vice president of Region I; secretary of the National Honor Society and vice president of the Spanish Club.
She is also involved in the Spanish Honor Society, SADD, varsity track, softball, cheerleading, tennis, Varsity Club and with church activities.
Janae Danzy
Janae Danzy, 17, a senior at Ross Beatty High School, is the daughter of Shelia and Craig Danzy. She has two brothers and three sisters.
She plans on attending Olympia Institute in Kalamazoo to learn to become a dental hygenist.
She is a mentor for seventh and eighth graders, does cadet teaching for Young 5's and was involved in the Cassopolis Arts &Music Festival.
She plays basketball, volleyball, is a cheerleader and on track, in Varsity Club, Spanish and Afro American Club and participates in demolition derbies.
She would also like to build a teen center “for teens to participate in afterschool activities.
Amanda Ampey
Amanda Ampey, 17, is a junior at Ross Beatty High School. She is the daughter of Rosalie and Ron Ampey. She has one brother.
She will be continuing to take classes in the nursing program at Southwestern Michigan College after graduation.
She is involved in FFA, softball and her church youth group.
Her goal for her community would be to “help further educate them on the importance of agriculture in our society, by having a program where people can go to different places and learn about agriculture, for example where milk comes from.”
