Search finds drugs

NILES – A 38-year-old woman was arrested following a search of her residence at 2110 Spansail Drive, Niles Friday, Dec. 14 at about 2 p.m.
Kelly Sue Saltsman was charged with possession of cocaine and assault and battery on a police officer.
The Berrien County Sheriff Department's Narcotics Unit with assistance from the Berrien County Sheriff Department's Niles Township Road Patrol Detail and the Niles City Police Department executed a search warrant for illegal narcotics following a one week long investigation, conducted by members of the Berrien County Narcotics Unit.
During the execution of this search warrant, the officers seized cocaine and other evidence of suspected narcotic trafficking.
The officers also seized numerous prescription pills, which will be sent to a forensic laboratory for analysis.
Saltsman, who resides at 2110 Spansail Drive and who was present at the residence at the time of the search warrant execution was arrested and lodged at the Berrien County Jail.
Additional charges may be sought through the Berrien County Prosecutor's Office against her at a later date on various prescription drug charges after the prescription drugs are tested at a forensic laboratory.
Seized under the Civil Forfeiture Law by the Berrien County Sheriff Department's Narcotics Unit included: $370 in U.S. Currency, one police scanner, one cell phone and miscellaneous pieces of electronic equipment.
