NILES – The Michigan State Police Niles Post has announced two suspects in the armed robbery of the Marathon station, located at 2205 E. U.S. 12, Cass County, have been arrested.
The robbery occurred Wednesday, Nov. 28 at approximately 10:45 p.m. Both suspects are currently lodged in the Cass County Jail for multiple felonies and have been arraigned in the Fourth District Court.
Arrested were Atrell J. Hagler, 19, of South Bend, Ind., and Lamont S. Jamerson, 21, also of South Bend. Both suspects were charged with armed robbery and several other felonies by the Cass County Prosecutor. Information is still being sought on the third suspect in the robbery.
A crucial break in identifying the suspects materialized when Officer Ken Stuart of the South Bend Police Department recognized and stopped the suspect vehicle.
"From Officer Stuart's alert actions, two suspects were identified along with addition evidence of the robbery," D/Sgt. Fabian Suarez of the Niles Post said.

Niles mother, son injured when
vehicle slides on ice, overturns
CASSOPOLIS – Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports his office responded to a personal-injury accident on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 5:30 p.m. on Dutch Settlement Street, near O'Keefe Road in Wayne Township.
Glenna Newton, 49, of Cassopolis, was traveling east on Dutch Settlement when she hit an icy portion of the roadway, lost control and rolled her vehicle.
Newton's son, Christopher Newton, 16, of Cassopolis, was also in the vehicle.
Newton and her son Christopher were transported to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for treatment of their injuries.
Safety belts were used. Weather was a factor in this accident. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor. Deputies were assisted by Wayne Township Fire Department and Life Ambulance.
Niles woman's vehicle hits fence
At approximately 5:15 p.m. Dec. 5, the sheriff's office also took an injury accident on Pokagon Highway, east of Barron Lake Road, in Pokagon Township.
Emily Siefke, 37, of Niles, was eastbound on Pokagon Highway when she lost control over her vehicle on icy roads.
Siefke spun her vehicle and left the roadway, hitting a fence. Siefke suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by a friend.
Seat belts were worn and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
