BERRIEN SPRINGS – Chairperson Jane Mitchell of Buchanan, announces that the 2009 Youth Fair King and Queen Contest will be held on Sunday, Aug. 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the grandstand. A king and queen will be selected from the contestants and will represent the Youth Fair at all events during the Fair. Brenda Layne will serve as M.C. for the program.

As a long standing tradition, showing in the equine area begins with the presentation of colors and the national anthem at 9 a.m. on Monday. For 2009, to highlight “A Blue Ribbon Celebration” theme, the American, Michigan, and BCYF flags will be presented.

The 2009 Berrien County Youth Fair officially opens Monday at 11 a.m. with most exhibits buildings ready for viewing. Rides, however, will not start until 6 p.m. on Monday only.
Tuesday through Saturday, rides start at 11 a.m.

Office hours during Fair Week are 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Admission gates close daily at 10 p.m.
