Halloween winners announced

NILES – The Niles District Library sponsored the Niles Costume Contest on Saturday, where it was estimated that around 150 children came to show off their costumes. The library partnered with the Bertrand Crossing Optimists and the Niles High School's Drama Club for the event.
Costume categories included cutest, scariest, funniest and book characters. Awards for each category were given in each age division.
In addition to costume awards, other prize drawings continued throughout the afternoon.
Costume contest winners, by age category, were:
Ages 0-4
Cutest – Lillian Landon, little fairy
Scariest – Travaonta Barnett, lion
Funniest – Adam Moore, Peas in a Pod
Book Character – Camerin Dunner, Peter Pan
Ages 5-8
Cutest – Calee Blaske, big soap bubbles
Scariest – Tiffany Pflug, grim reaper
Funniest – Alex Jasper, SpongeBob Square Pants
Book Character – Caleb Wilken, Clifford
Ages 9-12
Cutest – Holley Martynuik, Mini Mouse
Scariest – Madie Gordon, witch
Funniest – Abbey Woodring, pizza delivery man
Book Character – C.J. Adam Ferrier, Spiderman
The following are a few of the generous donations made by local merchants and organizations which will be given as door prizes at the event:
Fernwood Botanical Gardens – Basic Membership
Bishop Sewing Center – two sewing machines
Prestige Portrait Studio – $100 gift certificate for family portrait
YMCA – two 3-month youth memberships
Niles Wal-Mart – $50 toward purchase of prize packages
