Cross country teams fare well

STURGIS – The Brandywine boys' cross country team finished fourth in Division 3-4 at the Kiwanis Invitational on Saturday.
Hillsdale won the meet with 23 points, while Jonesville was second with 57 points. Brandywine finished fourth with 95 points.
Tyler Weedon finished fourth overall with a time of 17:17.
Aaron Sieting was 17th with a time of 19:46, while Tom Buzzard was 23rd with a time of 21:22 and David Dykema 25th with a time of 22:12.
Samuel Gipson, Dennis Angeles, Elliott Richards and Aaron Marquardt finished 26th through 29th respectively.
The Lady Bobcats did not field a full team.
Ashley Harrell finished seventh overall with a time of 22:07. Nicole Newman was 22nd (25:46), Jordenne Ferenczi was 24th (26:29) and Bethany Fortner 25th (26:59).
Also finishing for the Lady Bobcats were Anthena Heckathorne (26th) and Kylee Salisbury (27th).
Niles finished sixth in Division 1-2.
Detroit Catholic won the meet with 29 points, while Three Rivers was second with 68 points and Sturgis third with 68.
Niles' Mark Calhoun grabbed a fifth place finish overall with a time of 16:41.
Brett Ortiz was 19th for the Vikings with a time of 17:32.
Shawn Calhoun finished 11th with a time of 19:13, while Justin Kronewitter was 37th, Anthony Horvath 41st, Caleb Bliss 47th and Paul Mooney 82nd.
Edwardsburg did not have a full boys' squad.
The Lady Vikings finished third with 78 points.
Grandville won the meet with 33 points, while Sturgis was second with 54 points.
Edwardsburg took sixth with 158 points.
Finishing in the top 25 for the Lady Vikings were Samantha Brawley, who was eighth with a time of 20:15, Madie Rodts, who was ninth with a time of 20:15, Liz VandenHeede, who was 14th with a time of 21:01 and Autumn Grayson, who was 19th with a time of 21:30.
Also placing for the Lady Vikings were Sarah Tyler (28th), Ashley Allison (39th) and Alexandra Hoyt (41st).
