Niles netters compete at Big 16 tournament

BATTLE CREEK – The Niles varsity tennis team competed in the Silver Division of the Big 16 Conference Tennis Tournament on Saturday.
At No. 1 singles, Jordan Parks was 0-2 on the day, while at No. 2 singles, Zach Payne finished third.
Payne received a first round bye and then defeated Jay McMillian of Coldwater, 7-5 and 7-5.
At No. 3 singles, Matt Ftacek finished fourth as he went 1-1 on the day.
Adam Jenkins finished fifth after going 1-1 on the day. He defeated Matt Cole in his final match, 6-0 and 6-4.
In doubles action, Kyle Lee and Dustin Jankoviak finished fifth as they defeated Marshall, 6-4 and 2-1.
At No. 2 doubles, Brad Benjamin and Jordan Arnold finished fourth with a 1-1 record.
Chris Archer and Anthony Gladden finished fourth with a 1-1 record, while at No. 4 doubles, Ricky Briand and Colin Latislaw finished third as they defeated Marshall in their final match, 6-4 and 6-4.
