NILES – Continuous lightning ended the junior varsity football game between Niles and Portage Northern Thursday night.
The teams were tied 12-12 when the game was called during halftime.
"If the weather would have cooperated, we would have had a great chance of winning," Niles coach Steve Grayson said. "The kids were highly disappointed we didn't have a chance to finish the game."
The offensive line had a strong showing and were led by Zeke Legus, Hugh Hatcher, Hunter Krueger, Shayne Pompey, Josh Eddy, Kyle Miller and Bryan Evans.
Kevin Gross scored both touchdowns for the Vikings on runs of 54- and 62-yards.
Cal Poehlman, Matthew Bricker and Anthony Bostic led Niles defensively.
Grayson also noted that A.J. Moore did a good job leading the team.
The game may be made up Saturday, but a final decision has not been made yet.
