LANSING – Victor Fitz, Cass County prosecutor since January 2003, was re-elected to the board of directors of the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan (PAAM), the association announced Monday.
He will serve a one-year term through August 2008.
Fitz was originally voted onto the board by his fellow prosecutors in January 2007 to fill a mid-term vacancy.
Fitz, who has served his entire 24-year career in the field of prosecution, was recognized for his expertise and integrity in prosecution.
"As an association, we need to continue to focus our attention on public safety and must not compromise public safety for the sake of compromise or future promises," PAAM President Charles Koop said. "Prosecutor Fitz exemplifies a prosecutor who is focused and committed to public safety for the citizens of Cass County."
Fitz stated, "It's an honor to work with fellow prosecutors, lawmakers and others to help victims of crime. The Prosecutors' Association is recognized as a strong advocate for law-abiding citizens throughout Michigan."
PAAM was established in 1929. It is a voluntary association of all 83 of the state's prosecuting attorneys, the Attorney General and the U.S. attorneys serving Michigan.
Its primary purposes are to promote fair, swift and equal justice in enforcing the state's criminal laws, and the continuing education of prosecuting attorneys and other law enforcement officials of Michigan.
