Road millage on Cass County ballot

Cass County voters will have a five-year mill on the ballot today.
Approval would generate $1.8 million, of which the Cass County Road Commission would receive $1.6 million, with the remainder divvied up between the city and villages of Cassopolis, Edwardsburg, Marcellus and Vandalia.
Dowagiac’s share would be about $90,000 annually.
Based on the value of a median home in Cass County, property owners will pay an additional $45 per year, or about 85 cents per week.
Howard Township voting precincts are:
• No. 1 — Howard Township business office, 1345 Barron Lake Rd., Niles
• No. 2 — Howard Township Fire Department, corner of M-60 and Barron Lake Rd., Niles
• No. 3 — Howard Community Hall, 1400 Barron Lake Rd., Niles
Milton Township voting precincts are:
• One precinct — Milton Township Hall, 2576 E. Bertrand Rd., Niles
