BUCHANAN – A.J. Knight and Jose Negrete each punched in a pair of goals and four other Bucks hit the back of the net as Buchanan routed Coloma in a 8-0 Lakeland Conference varsity soccer game Tuesday afternoon in Buchanan.
Knight put the Bucks on the scoreboard at 2:14 of the first half followed by a Paul Kidd goal at 3:08. Nearly fourteen minutes Knight picked up his second goal of the night at 16:54.
Negrete got into the scoring act at 26:08 for his first of two goals of the game and a 4-0 Bucks lead. Richee Reed tallied Buchanan's final goal of the first half at 31:34 to send his team to the sidelines at the half with a commanding 5-0 lead.
Ryan Catalano opened the second half sending a shot to the back of the net at 4:31. Negrete added his second score of the day at 15:20 and Steven Rough put the game away at 26:47 with the teams eighth goal of the contest.
Picking up assists for the Bucks, who improve their record to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the league, were Kyle Sears, Tony Payne, Rough and Reed each with one and Catalano picking up two.
Buchanan is back in action at home on Saturday when they host Niles.
The time of the game has been changed to an earlier start time with the junior varsity starting the action at 10 a.m. to be followed by the varsity contest at approximately 11:30 a.m.
