Niles freshmen blank Sturgis, 37-0

NILES – The Niles freshmen football team improved to 2-0 Thursday night with a 37-0 victory over host Sturgis.
The Vikings grabbed an 18-0 lead after one quarter of play and extended their advantage to 30-0 at halftime.
Niles rushed for over 300 yards on the night with Jordan Potthoff leading with way with 178 yards rushing.
Justin Potthoff added 102 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown run. Jordan Potthoff had a 55-yard touchdown run.
Singled out for their offensive line play were James Asmus, Cody Sisk and Cody Taggart.
Nick Lucero opened up the scoring for the Vikings with a 1-yard quarterback sneak.
Justin Potthoff scored the 2-point conversion to give the Vikings an 8-0 lead.
Jordan Potthoff made it 16-0 with a 55-yard run, Justin Potthoff scored the 2-point conversion.
Jordan Potthoff followed with a 40-yard touchdown run. The extra point kick failed leaving the Vikings with a 18-0 lead.
Justin Potthoff broke loose for a 65-yard touchdown, while Jordan Potthoff scored the final touchdown on a 3-yard run.
Jordan Potthoff converted on both extra point kicks.
Defensively for the Vikings, Riley Robson had two interceptions, while Trey Nichols also had a pick.
The Vikings are back in action on Thursday as they play host to Kalamazoo Central.
