NILES – The Niles cross country teams did not have enough runners on Wednesday to place at the St. Joe Invitational held at Riverview Park.
Portage Central was the overall winner with 96 points. Marshall, which won the girls' division, was second with 100 points, while Otsego finished third (111), Mattawan fourth (115) and St. Joseph, which won the boys' division, fifth (117).
Ann Marie Arseneau of Sturgis was winner of the girls' freshmen-sophomore race with a time of 19:59.2.
Amanda Weaver of Marshall won the junior-senior race with a time of 20:09.
Sarah Crabtree, Ashley Allison and Allie Hoyt finished 29th, 42nd and 56th respectively in the freshmen-sophomore race with times of 25:20, 25:31 and 26:37.
Samantha Brawley took ninth in the junior-senior race with a clocking of 21:28.
Liz VandenHeede was 14th with a time of 22:19, while Autumn Grayson was 25th (23:18), Sarah Tyler 44th (24:58), Bree Donohue 51st (25:15), Nellie Coquillard 71st (27:02) and Stephanie Kolloff 79th (28:15).
Leana Allen finished 78th in the freshmen-sophomore race for Dowagiac with a time of 29:55. In the junior-senior race, Chelsey Preston and Catie Hamilton were 50th and 91st respectively with times of 25:09 and 28:56.
In the boys' portion of the event, Jay Marshall of Sturgis was the freshmen-sophomore winner with a time of 17:40.5.
Kalamazoo Hackett's Andrew Breyer won the junior-senior race with a clocking of 16:34.6.
Brett Ortiz was 19th in the junior-senior race with a time of 18:51.
Justin Kronewitter was 44th (20:20), Shawn Calhoun 51st (20:49) and Adam Young 72nd (28:2).
For the Chieftains, Brandon Wilson was 67th in the freshmen-sophomore race with a time of 26:15. In the junior-senior race, Justin Richter finished 77th with a time of 24:01.
