Edmond Lafayette Young, 62, of Buchanan, passed away peacefully Feb. 18, 2012, at Memorial
Hospital.
Edmond was born in Boley, Okla., on May 10, 1949. He was the seventh of eight children born to Fred and Sarah Young.
On Aug. 22, 1970, he married the love of his life, Margaret Williams. To this union was born Quinn “Big Dude” and Trinity “Trini Rae.” Lou, as he called Margaret, was his lifelong love. They enjoyed teasing each other during their retirement years. They enjoyed watching television, shopping, bike riding and traveling together,
He graduated from Boley High School and attended Langston University.
He moved to Buchanan in 1968 and began his career at Clark Equipment. Edmond later went on to work and retire from the Niles State Police Post as a maintenance supervisor.
He was a member of New Good Baptist Church and was baptized in 2003.
Edmond enjoyed life with much laughter. He spent his early years fishing with his brothers-in-law, father-in-law and close friends. Jazz and blues could always be heard coming from his vehicles, cruising at a safe 15 mph. Edmond and his brothers were called “The Cowboys” by many. Their infectious laughter could be heard wherever they went. Edmond found great pleasure in bringing his friends and family together for a fish fry or for family gatherings.
Those left to mourn and cherish his memories are his wife, Margaret Young, of Buchanan; his son, Quinn Young, of Indiana; his daughter, Trinity Young, of Buchanan; two brothers, Rudolph (Susie) Young and Morris (Wanda) Young, both of Buchanan; one sister, Eva Mae (Harold) Love of Denver. Edmond also leaves three granddaughters, Brooklyn, Quincie and Kincade Young. Edmond also has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, two aunts and an uncle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Sarah Young; brothers, Johnell (Mamie), Leon (Barbara Jean), Alfred Louis (Sarah); and sister, Arnesia Young.
A Home going Celebration will be held at New Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 112 Fulton St., Buchanan. The funeral will be Friday, Feb. 24, with viewing at noon and funeral beginning at 1 p.m.
