Israel “Ike” Raderstorf, 93, of Niles, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka.

He was born Feb. 23, 1918, in Logansport, Ind., to the late Frank Joseph and Mary (Hein) Raderstorf.

On Feb. 28, 1938, Israel was married to Lorena Neff in Logansport, Ind. They lived on Mayflower Road most of their married lives together.

Israel was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Niles, where he was a faithful member for many years. He retired after many years of service to Bendix Corp. He enjoyed fishing, farming, gardening, playing his guitar and watching old westerns. He is loved by his entire family and will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorena in 2006; brothers, Gilbert, Alotsius, Howard, Edmund, Clarence and Herman Raderstorf; sisters, Leona Koerber, Mideta Boyd and Frances Dille; grandchildren, Krista Marie, Angelia Marie and Lisa Ann; son-in-law, Sam Annis; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Raderstorf.

Israel is survived by a son, Larry Raderstorf, of Edwardsburg; daughters, Patsy Neff, of Mishawaka, Mary (Phillip) Landowski, of Chula Vista, Calif., and Judy Annis, of South Bend; a sister, Laverda Swaney, of Plymouth; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

His family would also like to thank all of Israel’s neighbors who cared for him and always showed concern.

Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 17, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Niles, where a parish Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church Parish Hall Saturday, Feb. 18, at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. David Otto officiating. An interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Israel’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
