United Way of Southwest Michigan is looking for a few hundred volunteers on March 15 to read to young students.
“The commitment is anywhere from two hours to the entire day, depending on how much time a volunteer is able to give,” said Anna Murphy, president of United Way. “The volunteer reads for about 15 minutes in each classroom they are assigned.”
Volunteers can select which school to read. Sign up at www.uwsm.org/reading or call (269)982-1700.
“March is reading month and we want to help people encourage early literacy by showing kids how much fun reading can be,” Murphy said.
