NILES – Rieth-Riley Construction Co. of Benton Harbor and Northern Construction Services Corp. of Niles are currently working on preparing four city streets for pavement resurfacing.
The four streets are Union Street, Lincoln Ave. to Barrett St.; First Court, Lincoln Ave. to Barrett St.; Burns Street, Fifth St. (M-51) to 11th St., and; Merrifield Avenue, 13th St. to 17th St.
As with any construction project of this nature, there will be short-term inconveniences to residents and others traveling on these streets or in the general area where the work is being done, said Neil Coulston, Niles public works director.
Motorists should be prepared for traffic delays, exercise extreme caution when driving in the vicinity of the work areas, and to avoid the streets when at all possible until the work is completed.
The $105,000 contract with the City of Niles Department of Public Works is expected to be completed within the next 7 to 10 days.
