NILES – Cars are back on the lot of SamSon Used Car Superstore in Niles, but it's not clear if the company is open for business.
A court hearing held Monday with creditors and prosecuting attorneys determined that the cars should be returned to the lot, as many creditors are still involved.
"We thought this would happen when we first seized the vehicles. We knew there were creditors involved and figured they would have to go back," Lt. Michael Brown of the Michigan State Police said Tuesday morning.
A spokesman at SamSon said this morning he is unable to answer questions and referred the Niles Daily Star to an attorney, who had not returned telephone calls at press time.
Sam Sweeden, owner of the business, has been accused by the Cass County prosecutor of having embezzled millions of dollars from his wife's parents, who were winners of a Kansas lottery.
