Niles-Buchanan YMCA Gators shine at tri-meet

NILES – A total of 45 swimmers participated in Thursday's tri-meet at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA.
During the summer league, the swim team competes in one tri-meet per week.
The YMCA Gators blew past the competition, posting a score of 464 points to blow past the other two teams.
The Elkhart, Ind. YMCA finished with 255 points, while the Gary, Ind. YWCA ended with 118 points.
Emily Harlow won the 200-yard freestyle in the 5 and over division with a time of 2:32.65.
In the 6 and under division, Caleb Mayes had a time of 36.00 in the 25-yard backstroke. Noah Krueger posted a time of 29.15 in the 25-yard freestyle.
In the 8 and under division, Matthew Norris had a time of 27.29 in the 25-yard backstroke and a 2:09.47 in the 100-yard Individual Medley.
Kelly Bichel had a time of 33.28 in the 25-yard Breastroke.
The 100-yard medley relay team of Lauren Kilgore, Norris, Andrea Bair and Vanya Rupport and the 100-yard freestyle Replay team of Bair, Hannah Keller, Mayes and Jonah Slack also won their events.
Parker Saladin won the 100 freestyle, 50-yard butterfly and 50-yard freestyle in the 9-10 year-old division.
Other winners in the division were James Norris in the 50-yard backstroke; Daniel Backus in the 50-yard breaststroke; Charlotte Bizoe in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard Individual Medley and 50-yard butterfly; Jason Furst in the 100-yard individual medley and Emily Gordon in the 50-yard breaststroke.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Saladin, Matthew Norris, James Norris and Backus and the 200-yard medley relay team of Gordon, Norris, Saladin and Bizoe both won their events.
In the 11-12 year-old age group, Allie Fuller had a time of 1:24.69 in the 100-yard individual medley.
Taking wins in the 13-14 year-old division were Caitlyn Dippo in the 100-yard freestyle, 100-yard brreastroke and 50-yard freestyle.
Hailee Rosol had a time of 1:19.19 in the 100-yard breastroke and the 200-yard freestyle team of Liz Panama, Rosol, Amanda Harlow and Dippo finished in first.
In the 15 and over division, Tyler Alexander won the 100-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke and the 500-yard freestyle.
Matt Bizoe won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.41 and Lindsey McCarty won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:58.31.
The 200-yard medley relay team of McCarty, Adam Galashe, Bizoe and Harlow also grabbed a win for the Gators.
The team's next home meet will be on July 21, where eight teams will compete in the conference tournament.
