Dowagiac Union High School has gone bronze after being ranked as one of the best high schools in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

Through a nationwide ranking system by U.S. News and World Report, nearly 22,000 high schools across the country were graded on their academics and demographics. Out of all the schools ranked, DUHS fell into the top 22 percent.

The ranking system takes into account a school’s demographics, such as student body percentages and geographical locations. Furthermore, scores on subject proficiency in areas of mathematics and reading are also looked at. Other factors include overall student performance, teacher-to-student ratios and the school’s data based on government records. The information is then tallied into an overall grade and schools are ranked accordingly.

DUHS received a national ranking from U.S. News and World Report, also.
