ST. JOSEPH – An Allegan man was lodged in Berrien County Jail Friday on charges of assault with intent to murder, domestic assault, fleeing and eluding police and motor vehicle theft.
According to Deputy Joshua Sutherland of the Berrien County Sheriff's Office, he was dispatched to meet with a victim of a domestic assault who had been dropped off at Old 31 near Deans Hill Road in Berrien Township.
Sutherland learned that the 21-year-old female had been assaulted by suspect Brandon Scott Noble, 20, of Allegan, as they drove along the 5600 block of Long Lake Road in Berrien Township.
Noble drove the victim's car into a power line pole in an attempt to kill himself and her.
Sutherland reported that Noble was located a short time later driving the victim's stolen vehicle and led sheriff's deputies on a car chase from Long Lake Road to the U.S. 31 bypass at Napier Avenue exit 22, where he was taken into custody and lodged at Berrien County Jail.
