Bobcats take conference title

NILES – Edwardsburg's track had Bobcat power written all over it.
On Tuesday, the Brandywine boys' track and field team captured the Lakeland Conference title, posting a score of 148 points.
Berrien Springs came in a close second with 135 points, while the Eddies took third with 117 points.
The Bobcats only had three members take first place finishes, while a handful of athletes claimed second.
Tyler Weedon took first in the 3,200-meter run with time of 10:43.96. Justin Price posted a time of 51.80 in the 400-meter dash, giving him the No. 1 spot in that event.
In the 100-meter dash, Caleb Frazier ended with a time of 11.63.
Second place finishers on the day were Brett Gilpin (110-meter hurdles), Frazier (high jump) and Bryton Hutchings (pole vault)
The 4×100 relay team, the 4×200 relay team, the 4×400 relay team and the 4×800 relay team all took second place also.
Brandwyine's girls' team finished with 13 points.
Michelle Smith took first place in the pole vault as she cleared 8-feet-2
Buchanan's boys' team ended the day with 38.5 points to give it a fifth place finish. The girls' team was third with 73 points.
Jeff Kruchkow took first place in the pole vault as he cleared 11-6.
Clinton Orr took second in the long jump with a leap of 19-6.
For the Lady Bucks, Torrie Eger took first in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:26.03.
Emily Lakin was first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.05.
