Marjorie Ann Smith, 83, of Parma, Mich., went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at Tendercare Marshall,
Mich.
She was the daughter of Homer and Ethel Young, born March 6, 1928, in Niles.
Marjorie was a graduate of Niles High School. She attended Western Michigan University and substitute taught in Western School District for many years. Marjorie was a member of Parma United Methodist Church and Women’s Literary Club of Parma. She enjoyed bowling, reading, camping and country music; she dearly loved her family and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her loving husband, Darwin O. Smith Jr., whom she married Aug. 28, 1948, in Niles; her parents; grandson, David Webster; brother, Jerome Young; brother-in-law, Thomas Dickinson.
She is survived by five children, Darwin (Kathryn) Smith, Drew Smith, Dawn (Steve) Bradley, Dale (Greg) Bradley and Dana Rainey (Bruce Bowers); 10 grandchildren, Deborah (Alan) Luke, Karen Tucker, Ryan (Jamie) Edwards, Rick Webster, Jason Peek, Ramie (Jason) Bivens, Andrew (Becca) Bradley, Alicia (Michael) Zimov, Blake (Alyse) Rainey and Devin Rainey (Alicia Russell); many great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lois Jean Dickinson and Leona Young; brother-in-law, James (Mary Jo Walsh) Smith; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held at Watson Parma Chapel Saturday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m.; Pastor Melissa Claxton will be officiating.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery on Monday at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Parma United Methodist Church or Oaklawn Hospice, 122 High St., Marshall, MI 49068.
