Anthony “Tony” Frank Krukowski, 89

Died: May 5, 2012

Tony’s life began on Feb. 3, 1923, in Chicago, the son of Leo and Stella (Ciba) Krukowski.

He was united in marriage to Mary Anne Tuka on July 16, 1946, in Chicago.

Tony served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had learned tool and die at Western Electric. Tony also worked for 3M, AUSCO Products Inc. and had owned a service station in Dowagiac.

He was a member of Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church, a fourth-degree Knights of Columbus and past Grand Knight, president of Holy Name Society in Chicago.

Tony was also Eucharist minister for the church. Tony had done many blood drives and sold Tootsie Rolls for the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Illinois.

His loving family includes: his wife, Mary Anne Krukowski; children, Darlene (Ed) Waldschmidt, Donna (Jerry) Dodd, Deborah (Andy) Merrill all of Dowagiac, Anthony (Lisa) Krukowski, Jr. of Stevensville, John Krukowski of Kalamazoo, Robert Krukowski of Dowagiac, Mary (John) Scapino of Edwardsburg, and Denise (Chuck) Sobieski of Dowagiac; grandchildren, Edward Waldschmidt, Jr., Tina (Dennis) Wimberley, Kenneth (Dixie) Dodd, Jerry (Lynn) Dodd, Deborah (David) Ironside, Chad (Sara) Tyrakowski, Chester (Alicia) Tyrakowski, Jr., Chris (Jeff) Kroepel, Toni (Matt) Watters, Aaron (Heather) Krukowski, Ryan Krukowski, Kyle (Ashley) Krukowski, Johnny Krukowski, Robert Krukowski, Kristy Krukowski, Jason Krukowski, Mary Scapino, John Scapino Jr., Michael Scapino, Cindy (Jordan Heuy) Sobieksi and Charles Sobieski Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jessica Whitmore, Taylor, Riley, Caleigh and Cole Wimberley, Matthew and Nathan Dodd, Cody and Emily Dodd, David, Miranda and Anna Ironside, Zachary and Kendall Kroepel, Emelia Krukowski, Billy and Savannah Krukowski; and a sister, Wanda Ferrera of Chicago.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Al Krukowski, Leo (Marge) Krukowski; brother-in-law, Sal Ferrera; grandson, John Waldschmidt and granddaughter, Michelle Renee Dodd.

Tony passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the Timbers of Cass County surrounded by his family.

Tony’s family will gather with friends on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church led by Father Kevin Covert with burial to follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery with full military honors.
