Rob Wright, a 34-year-old Edwardsburg Middle School science teacher/coach from Cassopolis, walked away with $8,000 in winnings on Tuesday's episode of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire."
Wright started in the hot seat on Monday's show, May 14, where he made it up the $4,000 question.
Wright used his "Ask The Audience" lifeline on the $1,000 question, which was: "Which of the following is a true statement about the melting point of ice and the freezing point of water? A) The melting point is higher, B) They are the same, C) They vary depending on volume, D) The freezing point is higher." The studio audience voted as follows: A) 40%, B) 54%, C) 5%, D) 1%. Rob went with the advice of the audience and correctly guessed the answer to be B."
He continued as a holdover contestant for Tuesday's show, where he started by looking at the $8,000 question with two lifelines left ("50-50" and "Phone-A-Friend").
Normally hosted by Meredith Vieira, "Millionaire" can be seen locally in South Bend, Ind. on WNDU. (NBC, Monday through Friday, 12:30 p.m.) For this week Tom Bergeron served as celebrity guest host for "Millionaire."
Wright used his "50-50" and "PAF" lifelines on the $8,000 question, which was: "Among "Sex and the City" fans, Carrie's boyfriend Jack Berger is infamous for breaking up with her via what method? A) Post-it note, B) Voice mail, C) Instant message, D) Blog entry." After using the "50-50," Rob was left with "A" and "D" as options. Still unsure of the answer, Rob used his "PAF" lifeline and then correctly guessed the answer to be "A."
Wright could have called his priest, but chose to call Jeff Jeffers instead, due to the nature of the question.
Wright's $16,000 question was: "Which of these seas does not border Russia? A) Black Sea, B) North Sea, C) Baltic Sea, D) Caspian Sea."
Out of lifelines and unsure of the answer, Wright decided to not take a guess and walk away with the guaranteed $8,000 that he had already won. If he had guessed incorrectly on the $16,000 question, he would have fallen back to $1,000 in winnings. The correct answer was "B."
