Lady ‘Cats hand Clay loss

NILES – South Bend Clay's softball team held a 1-0 lead for most of Wednesday's game against Brandywine.
The Colonials scored one run in the first inning and held the Bobcats scoreless for the next four.
However, a home run by Angela Newman helped the Lady Cats get back in the game, as they scored one run in the sixth and seventh innings to claim a 2-1 win.
Newman also had one RBI at the plate, while Kristina Ford had a double.
Kendra Zache picked up her 13th win in the circle, throwing 15 strikeouts and allowed just one walk and no hits behind of catching of Lauren Kachur.
Brandywine is now 14-6 overall, 8-2 in the Lakeland Conference. Clay is 7-12.
