Over the past year, a group of elected officials and concerned citizens have been meeting to discuss the water and habitat quality of Hickory Creek.
The Southwest Michigan Planning Commission has been assisting the the Hickory Creek Watershed Partnership with organizing itself and developing a plan of action.
The following Berrien County municipalities have land that drains into Hickory Creek: Baroda Township, Baroda Village, Buchanan Township, Lake Charter Township, Lincoln Charter Township, Oronoko Township, Royalton Township, Shoreham Village, Stevensville Village, St. Joseph City, St. Joseph Charter Township and Weesaw Township.
The group has a mission of improving the water quality and habitat of the Hickory Creek Watershed through education and stewardship. The group envisions the partnership consisting of everyone who has an interest in the Hickory Creek Watershed, which would include residents, businesses, students, teachers, county and state agencies, non-profit organizations and the townships, cities and villages who have land in the Hickory Creek Watershed.
