EDWARDSBURG – The Niles girls soccer fell to the Edwardsburg Eddies, 1-0, in a non-conference game Monday evening.
The Eddies were able to find the net from the midfield late in the first half. Niles had many opportunities at the net, but failed to finish.
"The Vikings are playing much stronger and beginning to pull the young talented team together. If we continue to progress and play with the intensity we did Monday, we will compete much more competitively the remainder of the season.," Niles coach Denise Peters said.
Peters added about some of the players, "Kaitlyn Touhey stepped into a new position and contributed in many ways. Meghan Horn, Tierria Murphy, Allison Ott and Rapphella Riegger played offensively strong. Mandie Pingel and Courtney Teske played well in the midfield, and the defense of Abby Mitchell, Bryanna Cramer and Rachel Smith were consistently solid."
The Vikings play Mattawan on Monday and Brandywine on Friday.
