WASHINGTON —  In the weekly Republican address Saturday, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton, R-Mich., will discuss next steps in the House’s efforts to implement an “all-of-the-above” energy strategy that would address high gas prices and help create jobs.
Upton’s address continues a coordinated Republican offensive to hold the Obama administration accountable for high gas prices and call for a real, “all-of-the-above” energy strategy.
“Led by Chairman Upton, the Energy and Commerce Committee is at the heart of the House’s efforts to implement an ‘all-of-the-above’ energy strategy that would address high gas prices and help create private-sector jobs,” House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said. “The House continues to act on common-sense solutions to address the pain at the pump, and we invite President Obama to join us in this work.”
“Americans understand supply and demand, and they know how important it is to increase the supply of American-made energy and strengthen energy partnerships with our allies like Canada,” Upton said.  “As we work to get our economy back on track, the last thing families and job creators need is higher energy prices. That’s why we’re continuing to pursue bipartisan solutions through the American Energy Initiative to remove government barriers to energy production and stop policies that drive up energy prices.”
