Roy Lee Coyer, 64, of Ontario Road in Niles, died at 2:49 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph following an extended illness.

Mr. Coyer was born Nov. 26, 1947 in Union Mills, Ind., to Lee Roy and Eunice (Bates) Coyer. He attended Union Mills schools and moved from South Bend to Niles in 2000. He was employed at Smoker Craft Boats.

His family remembers Roy as a good man who worried more about other people than himself. He believed in God with all his heart and was baptized and saved many years ago. He will be loved and missed by all of us. He collected Harley memorabilia and enjoyed woodworking and cabinet making.

In 1981 in LaPorte, Ind., he married the former Molly M. (Combs) Diedrich, who survives. Surviving family also includes his daughter, Lisa Marie of Philadelphia; stepdaughter, Georgia Gunter; stepson, William Diedrich; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol “DD” (Elvis) Graner and Evon “Neaser” Martin; brother, Larry (Melissa) Coyer; and several nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy and Eunice Coyer; brother, Gerald “Chub” Coyer; and sister, Rebecka Lynn “Ninnie” Scott.

Funeral services for Roy Lee Coyer will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Randy Pearman of Bethel Baptist Church in Niles officiating.

The family will receive relatives and friends beginning one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
