Elizabeth was born July 21, 1925, in South Bend to Peter and Theresa (Szaradics) Bencsics. She graduated from Washington High School in 1943 and attended the South Bend College of Commerce, where she was employed in the offices of Bendix Aerospace, South Bend.

Roy was born Nov. 29, 1927, in Niles to Charles L. and Marie (Batson) Gulbranson. He graduated from Niles Central High School in 1945, and was employed at Bendix Aerospace, working in fuel control systems for more than 37 years.

Roy and Elizabeth met at Bendix, and were married on April 28, 1951, at the Catholic Parish of Saint Stephen in South Bend. They celebrated their 60th anniversary of that wedding last year.

They are survived by their son, Thomas Gulbranson of Mishawaka; grandsons, Brandon (Kari) Gulbranson of Elkhart, Ind. and Michael (Janine) Gulbranson of Lafayette, Ind.; great-granddaughters, Makayla and Chloe; and by Roy’s sister, Mary Zanders of Arizona; and Elizabeth’s brother, Pete (Mary) Bencsics.

The couple was preceded in death by their daughter, Patricia Uhrick; infant granddaughter, Jana Rae; and by Roy’s sister, Lenore Vida, and brother, James Gulbranson; and Elizabeth’s sisters, Theresa Kocsis and Mary Scarbeck.

The shared funeral service for Roy and Elizabeth Gulbranson will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, with Mr. Alva Miller officiating. Committal services will follow at Highland Cemetery in South Bend.

The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
