Niles JV spikers earn title

NILES – The Niles freshmen and junior varsity volleyball teams hosted Volleyball Invitationals on Saturday.
The junior varsity team shined as it claimed the championship win, while the freshmen team fell in the semifinals. The freshmen team finished with a 9-1 record, while the JV team finished 8-0 on the day.
In junior varsity action, the Vikings defeated Brandywine 25-20 and 25-13 to advance to the finals, where Niles defeated River Valley 25-18, 25-17.
In other pool play games. Brandywine defeated Ear Claire 27-29, 25-8, 15-13 and Berrien Springs fell to River Valley, 20-25, 25-17, 12-15.
River Valley and Berrien Springs both finish 4-4 on the day, Brandywine finished 3-5 and Eau Claire posted a 1-7 record.
In freshmen action, the Lady Vikes fell to Berrien Springs in the semifinals, 26-24, 25-18.
Brandywine defeated River Valley 25-11, 20-25, 15-11 to advance to the finals against the Shamrocks.
After falling in the first game 25-17, the Bobcats rallied and won the next two, 25-23, 15-7 to claim the tournament victory.
