NILES - Donations to the Niles-Buchanan YMCA did not halt with the opening of the new facility Dec. 2.
In fact, executive director of the ‘Y' Bret Hendrie said the organization received an anonymous $76,500 donation immediately after the new building opened. And, the final $500 of a $2,500 donation was received Friday morning.
On Friday, Hendrie accepted a $500 donation from Paul Crouch, manager of the Niles Cressy &Everett Real Estate office. The gift was the final installment of a donation that Crouch started four years ago while still operating Crouch Realty.
Hendrie also said the YMCA has seen a jump in membership as well, especially in the number of teenagers using the new facility. In all, Hendrie said more than 300 membership units have signed on since the new ‘Y' opened.
