To the editor:

The Michigan State Police-Bridgman Post would like to thank everyone who donated to the holiday mitten tree for the past 22 years. Without all of the generous donations we could not have helped as many children in the area. We took a great amount of pride in being able to distribute so many items over the years.

With the closure of the Bridgman Post, we are asking those who would normally make or collect items for drop off to us to instead find another organization to donate to.

When the weather gets cold, it is time for us to remember our winter gear. The difficult thing to remember is that not everyone is able to afford warm clothing for themselves or their children. Many children attend school without the necessities for the bone-chilling weather that is quickly approaching.

So please continue to be as generous as you have in the past.
