Junior high Vikes pound Lakeshore

NILES – Two of the Ring Lardner Junior High boys basketball teams wrapped up their seasons Monday evening against Lakeshore.
The seventh and eighth grade Gold teams both ended the season with wins, while the Blue teams will return to action tonight.
Seventh grade
The Ring Lardner seventh grade Blue team defeated Lakeshore 40-19.
"Defensively, we played pretty solid defending their bigger players. Offensively, we were not as sharp as we could have been but we will take the win," Viking coach Steve Karsten said.
Myles Busby led all scorers with 15 points. Austin Parks added eight, Matthew McLaughlin seven and Logan Harpenau five.
With the win, Ring Lardner's record is now 12 – 0. The Vikings travel to take on Discovery on Tuesday.
The Niles seventh grade Gold team defeated Lakeshore, 40-30.
"The boys really executed well and stayed disciplined on offense," Viking coach Mike Gallo said.
Brandon Partee took over in the third quarter on his way to a season high 26 points, including two 3-pointers. Quinton Irby and Joseph Donoho finished with six points each and Cole Krassow had two.
The win pushed the seventh grade team's record to 9-3 on the season.
"Everyone really grew as a player this year, and they should be even better next season," Gallo added.
Eighth grade
The Ring Lardner eighth grade Blue team beat Lakeshore 45-26 Monday night.
Balanced scoring and great team defense were the keys to the win.
Leading scorers were Dustin Craig with nine points, Trey Nichols and Nick Lucero with eight points and Justin Potthoff with seven points.
The Vikings finish their season tonight against Discovery Middle School.
The Ring Lardner eighth grade Gold team won its last game of the season Monday, defeating Lakeshore 31-11.
Antwaun Brann lead scorers with 11 points, followed by Jonathan Eddy with 10 points.
Niles finished the season with a 9-3 record.
