Rangers get season under way

COLON - The Randy Brooks era at Cassopolis started with a win Tuesday night.
The visiting Cassopolis Rangers outslugged Colon 17-9 en route to an 11-10 non-conference victory in eight innings.
The Lady Rangers (1-0) jumped out to a 2-0 lead after a half inning of play and led 5-1 before the Lady Magi came storming back.
Colon (0-1) cut the lead to 5-3 with single runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings.
Cassopolis upped its advantage to 6-3 before Colon took a one-run lead with four runs in the bottom of the fifth.
The Lady Rangers tied the game at 7-7 with a run in the top of the sixth. Both teams scored twice in the seventh to send the game into extra innings.
Cassopolis freshman Molly Vite's two-run triple with two outs in the top of the eighth proved to be the winning runs.
Colon scored a single run in the bottom of the eighth.
Becky File led Cassopolis offensively with a triple, double and a single. Jessica Frucci added a triple and two singles, while Ashley Solloway finished with a pair of doubles.
Randi Hoffman, who was the winning pitcher, and Baily Wyant each had three hits. Vite also had a single for the Lady Rangers.
Hoffman allowed 10 runs on nine hits with a strikeout and six walks.

COLON - An eight-run seventh inning lifted visiting Cassopolis to a 10-9 come-from-behind victory Tuesday afternoon against Colon.
The Rangers (1-0) trailed 8-2 in the non-conference contest before rallying for the victory.
Josh Cole picked up the mound victory as he worked three innings, giving up two runs on two hits with two strike outs and a walk.
Ashton Danzy and Paul Curtis each had doubles for the Rangers, while Justin Lee and Jason Rietveld were both 2-for-4.
The Rangers return to action today as it hosts Centreville in a non-conference single game.
The game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
