Two notable figures in downtown Niles were injured Monday afternoon in a motorcycle accident near Toronto.
Linda and Al Fuller of Niles are both in Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, according to Lisa Croteau, a friend of the family. Croteau said the Fullers were vacationing in Canada when they were injured in a motorcycle accident.
Al is in serious but stable condition and his wife Linda is in critical condition, Croteau said
The Fullers own Blimpie Subs and Salads, 20 E. Main St., in downtown Niles. Al also plays the role of Santa Clause each year at Christmas for the downtown Niles celebrations.
Croteau said the couple was traveling on their motorcycle on I-41 outside of Toronto when a tire on the bike blew out. Emergency responders were on the scene quickly and airlifted the couple to the hospital, Croteau said.
