Billy David Owens, 53, of North Lincoln Avenue, Niles, died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend following a fall at home.
He was born Dec. 4, 1957 in Florence, S.C. to David Owens and Edna Matthews. He moved to this area 20 years ago from Johnsonville, S.C. He was a laborer in several businesses. He enjoyed spending time with friends, fishing, being outdoors and music, especially country.
Surviving family includes his companion, Deborah Lebiedzinski of Niles; daughter, Stacey Brooks; three grandchildren and other children who grew up in his home; brother, Michael (Cathy) Owens of Lake City, S.C.; sisters, Ann McDaniel of Johnsonville, S.C. and Nel (Tommy) McKenzie of Johnsonville; several nieces and nephews; and a circle of friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the amphitheater at Niles Riverfront Park with the Rev. Tina Velthuizen, chaplain at Memorial Hospital, officiating.
There will be no visitation.
