WHITE PIGEON - The Michigan State Police (MSP) is announcing the assignment of Trooper Jeremiah Carlisle to the White Pigeon Post. Carlisle joined the MSP in July and graduated as a member of the 120th Recruit School on Dec. 2.
Carlisle, 25, is the son of Ron and Patty Carlisle of Cassopolis. he and his wife Aryn also live in Cassopolis.
He studied Law Enforcement and received his associate's degree from Kalamazoo College and completed his undergraduate degree in business at Bethel College in Mishawaka, Ind.
He has served five years on the Cass County Sheriff's Department, in the Marine Division, bike patrol, with Community Policing and at Ross Beatty High School.
The 120th Trooper Recruit School began on July 18, when 110 recruits reported to the MSP Training Academy in Lansing. After a 20-week period, 89 recruits were sworn in as MSP troopers and assigned to work sites across the state.
All new troopers participate in a 17-week Field Training Program. During the program, new troopers are paired with more experienced troopers for their shifts.
The program helps new troopers apply their studies to real life police work and conduct investigations under the supervision of seasoned troopers. Upon completion of the field training, new troopers begin working independently and are evaluated monthly for six months.
