Otis Preston Cosey, 78,  suddenly departed this life on Saturday, Oct. 22,  2011, at Lakeland Hospital in Niles.
Otis was born Jan. 16, 1933, to the late Andrew ‘Brock” Cosey Sr.  and Cora Belle Cosey in Vicksburg, Misss
Otis served on the hospitality committee at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. He was known as the barbecue king. His favorite past time was sitting and talking with family and friends.
He left to remember his loving spirit, his wife of 28 years, Christine Berry-Cosey;   two sons,  Dujwan C. Berry of Niles and Donald “Thumbs” Ward of Mishawaka, daughter, Erica A. Maxewell of Indianapolis, Ind., two granddaughters, De’ja Berry of Niles, Kiara Shoulders of Missouri; four grandsons, Dontonio Harris Berry of Texas, Sheldon, Brendan and Rayshun Maxwell all of Indiana and  Kevonn  Shoulders of Missouri; eight sisters, Mae belle Hill, Agnes M. Bacon both of Dowagiac, Lucille Starks of Wisconsin, Noveta Welch of Detroi, Dorothy J. (Johnny) Avance of South Bend, Barbara Burkley  and Debra Hawkins both of Mississippi and  Linda Garrett of California; four brothers, Earl (Julia)  Cosey, Erwin (Sarah) Cosey, Robert E. (Anna) Cosey all of Mississippi and Samuel Howard of Ohio; an aunt, Laura Topps; and daughter-in-law, Wendy (Keith) Shoulders, both of Missouri; and sister-in-law Eunice Cosey of Dowagiac.
Predeceased family members, Mother, Cora Cosey-McKeel, Father, Andrew ‘Brock” Cosey Sr. Son, Donald L. Berry, Sister Rosa Lee Carter, Three brothers Andrew Cosey, Twin Brothers Donny and Ronny Cosey.
Services to celebrate Mr. Cosey’s life will be Friday, Oct. 28 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 601 Ferry St. in Niles, at 12 p.m. Visitation isone hour prior, and Pastor Bryant L. Bacon is officiating.
