JONES — One man was injured in a stabbing Sunday in Jones, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Clint Roach reports that his deputies responded to a stabbing on High Street in Jones shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 26. Responding deputies found a 56-year-old male who had suffered multiple knife wounds. They gave him aid to control his bleeding before turning his care over to medical first responders from Newberg Fire Department. The victim went by ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.

Deputies arrested a 20-year-old male suspect who was a short distance away from the residence. Their investigation indicates that there was a domestic assault that had taken place involving the male suspect and a female, who, along with the victim, was also a resident of the same household as the suspect. The victim received his injuries after becoming involved in that altercation.

The Sheriff’s Office is withholding the name of the accused suspect until his arraignment.  The incident remains under investigation.
