Feed the Hungry program thanks community for $50,000+ raised

DOWAGIAC — The C. Wimberley “Feed the Hungry” campaign concluded recently after attaining the lofty goal of $50,000 in cash and food donations. 

Hundreds of donors giving small amounts, and a handful of significant gifts, helped in reaching the goal set by co-chairmen Jim Allen and Jeff Neumann.

“We are grateful for the individuals, businesses and groups that gave of their time and resources to make the event a success,” Neumann said. “Special thanks go to Jim Allen, Dowagiac police and fire departments, Lyons Industries, Family Fare and Save-a-Lot for continuing support.Funds from the campaign will be administered by A.C.T.I.O.N.  Ministries and used to purchase Mobile Pantries from Feeding America that will make stops at various locations throughout the area. Remaining funds will be used in area pantries for food purchases.

“With humble and grateful hearts we acknowledge the many generous donations, large and small, that go to assist in the effort to end food insecurity for local residents,” Neumann said.
