Niles bowling teams compete at Bronson Invite

BRONSON — The Niles Varsity Bowling team traveled to Bronson for the Bronson Invite on Friday.
Eight teams competed in this clash, completing 12 baker games, with total pin fall cut being the top four teams. The Vikings shot 1926 in their 12 qualifying games. Niles made the bracket play cut sitting at third place, averaging 160. In the first bracket play round, Niles took on Coldwater in the first round and beat the Cardinals 2-0 in a race to two games, winning 196-165 and 210-122 to take first place. Coldwater finished third place beating host Bronson in the third place game.
On the other side of the bracket, Portage Central and Bronson faced off, going into a roll with Portage Central coming out on top. The Vikings and Mustangs moved on to the championship match with the Vikings taking the first game 169-123. The second match came down to the 10th frame with a lay ball thrown by Junior Aidan Kidwell for the Vikings coming out on top 155-154. The Vikings move on to face Vicksburg next Wednesday at home.
Niles Viking Varsity girls also made match play out of six teams finishing and medaled in fourth place.
