December 6, 1953 – December 24, 2024
Donald Eugene Uselton, age 71, of Fort Myers Beach, Florida, passed away on December 24, 2024. He was born on December 6, 1953, in Roswell, New Mexico, and moved to Mishawaka, Indiana, when he was just one year old. He later settled in Niles, Michigan, where he graduated from Brandywine High School in 1972.
In the early 1980s, Don met Cherrie Rodgers, and they were married on July 8, 1985. After many happy years in the Michiana area, they made their home in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, in 1996.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Cherrie, and two children: Bryan Rodgers of South Bend, Indiana, and Jennifer Rodgers Hall of Buchanan, Michigan. He is also cherished by his grandchildren, Amelia and Norah Rodgers, and Austin and Christian Hall. Don’s legacy will live on through his great-grandchildren, Ryan DeFreez, Annabell and Peyton Hall, and Scout Hall.
He is also survived by his brother, Ronnie Uselton, his wife Deb Uselton, and their children: Sarah Uselton Newton, Travis Uselton, and Calvin Uselton.
Don had a passion for working with his hands, beginning his career at Torrington Bearings before starting his own construction business, Atlas Construction, in Niles, Michigan. He enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, snow skiing, collecting, and working on cars. Don was known for being the life of the party, always bringing laughter and joy to those around him.
Don’s life was impacted by Parkinson’s disease, which he bravely battled for 31 years.
In his honor, the family requests that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation (https://www.michaeljfox.org/).
There will not be any formal services; however, a Celebration of Life is being planned for the near future in the Michiana area.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
