PORTER TOWNSHIP — Three people were hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash Friday night in Porter Township.

Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that at approximately 5:44 p.m., his deputies responded to a two-vehicle injury crash at the intersection of M-40 and Shavehead Lake Street, Porter Township.

The initial investigation showed that the vehicle driven by Christopher Bingaman 39, of Constantine, was heading North bound on M-40 when a vehicle driven by Thomas Yoder, 22, of Shipshewana, was driving eastbound on Shavehead Lake Street and failed to yield to oncoming traffic on M 40. Bingaman’s vehicle left the road, coming to rest in a field. Bingaman, along with his passengers, Matthew Walter, 39, of Three Rivers, and a juvenile were transported by Porter ambulance to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for injuries sustained in this crash. Yoder was treated by EMS on scene.

Alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash.

Assisting agencies on scene were Newberg Fire and EMS and Porter / SEPSA EMS.

The crash remains under investigation.
