Constance “Connie” Louise Blackmond, 94 of Niles, died Monday, November 25, 2024 in Woodland Terrace. Connie, was born June 12, 1930 in Sturgis, Michigan to Donald and Margaret Norris. She married Stephen G Blackmond in Sturgis, Michigan 1949.
Connie graduated from Sturgis high school and attended Western Michigan University. She worked for Graphic Art Center Clark Equipment, as an office manager. Connie was a member and a lay minister at Trinity Episcopal Church. At the church, she was also a lay reader, sang in the choir, did vestry and was a member of the altar guild. Connie was president of Junior Arts Club in Dowagiac and the Ladies Reading Club in Niles. She loved the beauty of nurturing her garden. Connie was an excellent cook. To her family, she was known as Honey Grams. She made every holiday special for her family but anytime with them was special to her. She will be greatly missed.
Connie is survived by her children, Frederick (Sherry) Blackmond, Margaret (Jesse) Townsend, Kathryn (Edward) Mamaril; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren; her sister, Ann (Douglas) Van Meter and several nieces and nephews.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband Stephen and her son, Donald.
Services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 11a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church 9 South 4th street, Niles. with gathering one hour prior. Burial will take place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac.
